Civil Society met to discuss the situation of children in the Americas within the framework of the XXII Pan American Child Congress.

Civil society organizations working for the rights of children and adolescents met on October 28 in the city of Cartagena, prior to the XXII Pan American Child Congress, to exchange experiences and discuss the implementation of public policies and the situation of children in the region.

This Third Partnership Forum, organized by the IIN and the Global Movement for Children, was supported by the Government of Colombia – host country of the Pan American Congress – and the Civil Society Relations Section of the OAS Secretariat for Access to Rights and Equity.

The dialogue was attended by 33 non-governmental organizations and 142 representatives, including children and adolescents, who participated for the first time in the history of this Forum through simultaneous workshops addressing the central themes of the XXII Congress: eradication of violence, challenges of participation and national protection systems.

As a result of the meeting, the organizations prepared a series of recommendations addressed to the participating States that will be read at the XXII Pan American Child Congress.
