SECRETARIAT OF EDUCATION AND SAVE THE CHILDREN LAUNCH PROTOCOL FOR THE EDUCATIONAL REINTEGRATION OF CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS.

As part of the inauguration of the month for the prevention of irregular migration, the Secretariat of Education and Save the Children launched the Teacher’s Guidance Guide for the Educational Reinsertion of Children and Adolescents (NNA) in Vulnerable Conditions – Attention Protocol.

During the month of August, through different activities that will take place nationwide, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, seek to raise awareness among the Honduran population, particularly children and adolescents, of the dangers of irregular migration to Mexico and the United States.

The inauguration was attended by children and teachers of the Paraguay School, the First Lady Ana García de Hernández, the Chancellor of the Republic María Dolores Agüero, the Minister of Education Marcial Solís, the Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy Heide Fulton, the Executive Director of Save the Children Mariano Planells, representatives of the Secretariat of Education at the departmental level and representatives of international organizations.

At the same time, and taking advantage of this event, the Teacher Orientation Guide for the educational reintegration of children and adolescents in vulnerable conditions – Attention Protocol was launched, which is the result of the efforts of different institutions that have been involved in its construction and validation for more than three years. In addition, it represents the official tool that will guide teachers to reinsert children and adolescents in the country’s educational centers, thus guaranteeing the right to education.

Regarding the Guide, Gloria Menjivar, Undersecretary for Technical Pedagogical Affairs of the Secretariat of Education, stressed the importance of the collaboration of international and civil society organizations and, in particular, highlighted the timely technical and financial support provided by Save the Children over the past year.

Finally, the executive director of Save the Children, Mariano Planells emphasized that these actions are part of a series of initiatives implemented by his organization to support the prevention of irregular migration of children and adolescents in the Northern Triangle of Central America.
